Joel
Winston – Founder & Lead Engineer, ShoMakers Productions
Joel Winston is a seasoned technical expert with over three decades of experience in event logistics, audio engineering, lighting design, and special effects. His career in production began in the late 1970s as part of the sound, lighting, and special effects team for the band Wynd Chymes, where he worked alongside King-Shamwell-Davis Management. During this time, Joel played an instrumental role in producing live performances for some of the biggest names in Blues, R&B, and Funk, gaining invaluable experience in live event production.
After relocating to Southern California in the 1980s, Joel continued to expand his expertise, touring as a member of the road crew with the legendary Harry Belafonte from 1989 to 1992. These tours took him across the U.S. and Canada, where he contributed to sound, production logistics, and technical coordination, ensuring flawless performances in every venue.
In 1997, Joel founded Urban Marketing Concepts, followed by Arts Marketing Group, where he provided not only marketing services to arts organizations but also comprehensive technical production and logistics support. His experience spans across numerous live productions, including concerts, theater performances, and special events, where his attention to detail in audio, lighting, and special effects consistently elevated the audience experience.
Today, as the founder of ShoMakers Productions, Joel brings together his extensive background in live event logistics and technical execution to offer state-of-the-art production solutions. Whether it’s audio engineering, stage lighting, or intricate special effects, Joel ensures that every event is technically flawless and unforgettable.
